Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 16, 2026

Statomotive is run by Anwar Martin ("we", "us"). This policy says what we collect when you use statomotive.com, why, who else receives it, how long we keep it, and how to delete it. The short version: we keep your email address and what we need to run your account and membership, we measure our advertising with the Meta Pixel, we never sell your information, and you can delete your account yourself from your account page.

What we collect

Your account. Your email address, when the account was created, whether you signed in with an email link or with Google, and, if you arrived through one of our partners' links, that partner's tag. With Google sign-in we receive only your verified email address from Google, not your name, photo or contacts. There is no password.

Where a new account came from. When an account is created we record, once: the website that sent you to us (its name only, such as google.com), the first page you landed on, any campaign tags in that link (utm source, medium and campaign, and whether an ad click id was present, not its value), the page you signed up on, your country and network provider (for example "Comcast"), your browser's user agent, and how long you were on the page before signing up. We record your country, never your IP address. We use this to learn which channels bring readers and to tell real sign-ups from bots.

Your membership. Your plan, whether it is active, when it renews, and Stripe's reference numbers for your customer record and subscription. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe: we never see or store your card number.

Signing in. Sign-in links and sessions are stored only as one-way fingerprints (hashes), not as the link or cookie itself. Links expire after 15 minutes and sessions after 30 days, and both are deleted once they expire.

Waitlist. If you joined the waitlist before accounts existed: your email address, the time, and which form you used.

Abuse protection. To limit how many sign-in emails can be sent, we count requests per email address and per IP address for one hour. These counts are stored only as one-way fingerprints and deleted after a day.

Hosting logs. The site runs on Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and stop attacks, and keeps short-lived logs for security and operations.

Cookies and similar storage

  • sm_session (ours, 30 days): keeps you signed in. Set only when you sign in.
  • sm_src (ours, 90 days): the website and page you first arrived from, read once if you create an account (see above).
  • sm_ref (ours, 90 days): a partner's tag, if you arrived through a partner link.
  • sm_gnonce (ours, 10 minutes): a one-time security check during Google sign-in.
  • sm_ui (ours, stored in your browser, not a cookie): remembers that you are signed in so the menu shows the right links before the page finishes loading.
  • Meta Pixel (Meta's, including the _fbp cookie, 90 days): see "Advertising" below.

Our own cookies are not readable by other websites. You can clear or block cookies in your browser; if you block sm_session you will not be able to stay signed in.

Advertising

We advertise on Facebook and Instagram. Every page of this site loads the Meta Pixel, which tells Meta that a browser viewed a page here. Meta can link that to a Facebook or Instagram account and uses it to measure our ads and to show our ads to people likely to be interested, under Meta's privacy policy. We do not send Meta your email address or anything about your account or membership. You can limit this in your Facebook and Instagram ad settings, or by blocking third-party cookies or trackers in your browser.

How we use it

  • To run your account, sign you in, and give you the guides your membership includes.
  • To email you: sign-in links, a welcome email, membership emails, and our weekly insights and product news. Every insights email has an unsubscribe link.
  • To bill your membership through Stripe and stop it when you cancel.
  • To understand which channels bring readers, measure our ads, and keep bots out.

Who receives it

We do not sell or rent your personal information. These companies process it to run the site for us:

  • Cloudflare: hosting, our database, bot checks (Turnstile) and security.
  • Stripe: payments and memberships.
  • Loops, which sends through Amazon SES: all email we send you.
  • Google: Google sign-in if you use it; the site's fonts load from Google's servers, which see your IP address; and our own mailbox, if you email us.
  • Meta: the Meta Pixel described above.
  • Resend: sends us a notice with the new address when someone joins the waitlist.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Your account, membership and sign-up details: until you delete your account. Sign-in links and sessions: until they expire. Abuse-protection counts: one day. Our database backups: 30 days, after which a deleted account is gone from them too. Billing records (your customer record at Stripe, your invoices and payments) are kept for as long as tax law requires, including after you delete your account.

Deleting your account

Sign in, open your account page and choose "Delete my account". We email you a link to confirm. When you confirm, we delete your account and everything above that is tied to it, remove you from all our email lists, cancel any membership at Stripe immediately, and remove your saved card. Your billing records (your customer record at Stripe, your invoices and payments) are kept for as long as tax law requires. Copies in our backups are deleted within 30 days.

If you only joined the waitlist, or cannot sign in, email info@statomotive.com from the address you used and we will delete it for you. To stop marketing email without deleting anything, use the unsubscribe link in any insights email.

Age

Accounts are for adults: you must be 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes

If this policy changes we will post the new version here with a new date. If a change affects how we use information we already hold, we will email account holders before it takes effect.
